The Young Carers Policy is currently in development, and we will be seeking support from young carers at the college in putting this together to support their needs. This will be available from your tutor or at The Link from September 2021.

MYTIME
My Time provide opportunities for young carers to make friends and build support networks. They have activities for young carers to participate in for example, ice skating and rock climbing.
For 18-25 year olds they have an employability programme which allows young adult carers to find a job or go into education to fit around a caring role.

The Leonardo Trust offer help for young adult carers and can provide counselling. This allows the person to focus on themselves, their interests and hobbies.

Carers UK have an advice and support service for young carers to talk about their caring role. They provide online information and support as well as over the phone.

Soundstorm
Sound Storm provide support for Young Carers with an interest in music. Musical Instruments can be hired and funding may also be available for both musical instruments and music lessons.

Sibs
For those who are adult siblings to a child who needs care, can get help through Sibs. There are online workshops, online support and online advice.
For those aged 7-17 can access online support and tips. This can help reduce childhood isolation, allow them to better understand their siblings needs and the condition their sibling has.
